Simpler Safer Health Care
Neoteric Wins Microsoft MS-HUG Award 2008 MS-HUG Press Release (pdf)
At HIMSS 2008 in Orlando, it was announced that Neoteric Technology
has won the Microsoft MS-HUG award for Delivery Transformation.
Neoteric's LacTrack® SafeLx solution was chosen for protecting
infants at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center's
Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU) from milk feeding errors using 2D bar coded
patient identification and mobile computers at the bedside.

In just three months 159 health care providers including doctors, nurses, dietitians and feed preparation technicians used LacTrack SafeLx to verify and correctly order, prepare, distribute and feed over 28,000 units of milk to the correct 175 infants in the 41 bed NICU.
Neoteric's mobile, wireless bedside point-of-care solution was given first place over 15 other competing products because it reduced milk preparation time from 20 to 15 minutes, prevented at least 20 milk feeding errors and achieved near 100% compliance with nursing staff.
Chris Sullivan, U.S. health industry solutions director, Microsoft, said, “We were very impressed by Neoteric’s LacTrack solution and its ability to truly integrate a wide-range of Microsoft software platforms into a highly scalable, configurable, robust and easy-to-use solution."
Dorothy Dougherty, Lactation Consultant at Sunnybrook, said, “The LacTrack solution fundamentally changed the way we provide care to the vulnerable infants in our NICU, essentially this technology speaks for those patients that can’t speak for themselves.”

LacTrack is built upon the Neoteric Enterprise Architecture which along with BloodTrack and PathCollect:
- Improves Patient Safety
- Saves Staff Time
- Guarantees SOP Compliance
- Simple User Interface Hides Technical Complexity
